Programme Overview

The Zell Miller Scholarship is a merit-based scholarship program for Georgia residents who have demonstrated academic achievement. This scholarship provides money to assist students with educational costs of attending a postsecondary institution located in the state of Georgia.

 

To be eligible for the Zell Miller Scholarship, students must graduate from high school with a 3.70 cumulative GPA as calculated by Georgia Student Finance Commission (GSFC) AND an SAT score of 1200 OR an ACT score of 25. Students must also meet all the eligibility requirements of the HOPE Scholarship and be enrolled in a degree-seeking undergraduate program. However, full-time enrollment is not required to receive Zell Miller funding.

Benefits

For 2024-2025, the Zell Miller Scholarship pays 100% of the total cost of in-state tuition charged. This is a maximum of $10,512 for two semesters of enrollment in 15 credit hours per term.

For students who are enrolled for the summer semester, the Zell Miller Scholarship will pay per credit hour in conjunction with summer tuition cost in addition to the maximum mentioned above.

Requirements

The Zell Miller Scholarship program requires students to meet basic requirements to be awarded initially after high school graduation and maintained while enrolled in an eligible college or university (postsecondary institutions). An eligible student must:

  1. Meet U.S. citizenship or eligible non-citizen requirements;
  2. Meet the postsecondary institutions Georgia Residency requirements;
  3. Be enrolled as a degree-seeking student at a USG, TCSG or eligible private Zell Miller eligible college or university in Georgia;
  4. Meet federal Selective Service registration requirements, per Georgia state law. The requirement to register applies to males who were born on or after January 1, 1960, are at least 18, are citizens or eligible non-citizens who came to the United States prior to age 26;
  5. Meet the Eligible Postsecondary Institution’s Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) policy;
  6. Be in good standing on all student loans or other financial aid programs;
  7. Be in compliance with the Georgia Drug-Free Postsecondary Education Act of 1990;
  8. Not have exceeded the maximum award limits for any HOPE program

Note: Students must not be in default on any federal or state of Georgia student loan, grant, or scholarship. If a student goes into default on a federal or State of Georgia student loan, the loan must be repaid in full, or the default status resolved before eligibility can be determined for Zell Miller Scholarship. Students must not owe a refund on a state of Georgia scholarship or grant program. The refund amount must be paid in full before eligibility can be determined for Zell Miller Scholarship.

To be considered for the Zell Miller Scholarship, you must complete the Georgia Tech Application for Scholarships and Financial Aid (GT App) AND either the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) OR the Georgia Student Financial Aid Application (GSFAPPS) every year.
