Programme Overview

The May and Samuel Rudin Memorial Internship Scholarship is a stipend of up to $1,000. It is intended partially to free students from outside job commitments for the semester in which they are registered for a CAS internship.

  • Selections are based on academic merit, merit of the proposed internship, and financial need.
  • The scholarship is available only to CAS students who are the recipients of need-based financial aid. Applicants must have a FAFSA on file at the student financial aid office in order to be considered. This helps the committee to determine the unmet financial need of each student.
  • Applicants should have at least a 3.0 grade point average.
  • Letters of recommendation are required from students’ internship and faculty supervisors.
  • Students must register for the appropriate independent study and internship course and complete the College of Arts and Science course permission form.
  • Internships must be taken within the 12 point independent study limit, and are usually 4 points.
  • Preference will be given to internship placements in the downtown area south of 14th Street.
  • Internships must contain substantive academic content through some combination of journals, regular meetings with the sponsoring professor, reading assignments, and full-length term papers.
  • Specific questions about internships should be directed to the intern supervisor in your major department.

Requirements

  1. Your internship supervisor must submit a detailed letter of recommendation describing your participation/involvement in the internship.
  2. Your faculty supervisor must submit a detailed letter of recommendation describing your participation/involvement in the internship. The letter should also address how the internship is related to your career goals.

Both letters must be emailed to [email protected] by the application deadline.
