Programme Overview
The Yale Emerging Climate Leaders Fellowship offers an opportunity for 16 young climate and clean energy practitioners from across the Global South to broaden their technical skills, deepen their professional networks, and exchange views with top global clean energy and climate change leaders.

Requirements
Applicants are to meet the following criteria:
- Applicants should have 5 to 10 years of professional experience with demonstrated accomplishments at a regional, national, or international level.
- There is no maximum age limit, but the program seeks young leaders.
- Applicants must be representatives of the Global South, with a diverse representation from Africa, Asia, the Middle East, and Latin America/Caribbean.
- Applicants must be fluent in English, as an excellent command of the language is essential for full participation in the program.
- Climate Fellows must be available for two in-person program weeks: Yale Orientation (April 7-11, 2025) and Paris Closing Week (September 15-19, 2025).
- Fellows must also be available for five remote learning journeys between May and early July 2025.
Interview Dates and Process
- An established record of achievement in a profession related to clean energy and climate change.
- The program seeks a diverse group of Fellows from various stakeholder groups, including government officials, entrepreneurs, energy company/utility professionals, bankers/financiers, journalists, educators/researchers, civil society representatives, legal advisors, and legislators.
- A commitment to making a positive impact at the local, national, or international level.
- Demonstrated potential for a future leadership career at both the national and potentially global level.
- An eagerness to expand and deepen professional networks and benefit from exposure to top global leaders in the clean energy and climate change sector.
Application Deadline

- The application process for the Climate Fellows Program is completed entirely online, with no paper forms to submit or mail.
- There is no application fee or cost to apply or participate. The program covers all costs for the Yale Orientation week and Paris closing week, including round-trip airfare, hotels, transfers, and per diem.
- You may work on your application at any time before the deadline and submit it when ready.
- After creating an account and accessing the online application, you can upload materials and request letters of recommendation.
- Applicants must submit a résumé/CV (maximum three pages), a personal statement (maximum 600 words), and one letter of recommendation.
- Applicants have the option to submit a brief video statement as well.
